These simple words like faith, believe, seek, knock are really difficult to pigeon-hole into a definition. Blessing and the Act of Blessing fits in that category very well.
From the dictionary Blessing means: to consecrate or sanctify by a religious rite; make or pronounce holy, to request of God the bestowal of divine favor on, to bestow good of any kind upon and to protect or guard from evil. Sounds great doesn't it. I want some of that!!!
It's really easy. Most of us are either sorely lacking in the ability or knowledge of how to sanctify anything, but that's OK; in addition, we probably don't feel like we're of the correct pay-grade to do any pronouncement of holiness - at least I don't.
But no worries: we can always ask God's help and of course we can request that he bestow his favor on (you fill in the blank here) . This can be animate or inanimate.
For example, before you pay your bills, open your checkbook and/or your wallet and bless it: Bless you, bless you so that divine substance is working in and around you in an easy and quick manner.
Or a simple prayer for your blessing on a particular task, job interview, college exam, or whatever you need.
These sound so minor like, "Don't bother God with these minor mundane events and worries." ¡Al contrario mi amigo! OK, I'm trying to learn Spanish!!!!
But this is how we establish that relationship with God, that He so wants with us. Not only does He know that we need that relationship, but He wants it as well. He is our loving father and He wants to give us our birthright, but we must believe and we must be faithful.
Be sure and use this powerful tool that God gives us. Blessing our actions, our endeavors, our words, our surroundings whether animate or inanimate, causes major miracles to happen.
Here's a short video to help put you in the right frame of mind.
