I'm not sure we've talked about this, but Affirmations are vital.
Here are the "vitals" for making the most of your dreams:
- Ask, Believe, Receive (this includes all the refining on your ask - as in how to ask, etc.; believing and all that involves, and receiving - being in that state of mind.)
- Vision Board - really second step in asking
- Meditation
- Affirmation
These are vital to your work in keeping your mind above the fray. Even though I've listed Affirmations last, that doesn't mean it is the last. These act as confirmations of your dreams and wishes.
Like all these techniques - they all offer support and reaffirmation of your dreams and wishes in different ways - visually, mentally, some by repeating it over and over. The old adage of repeating it over and over makes it true - is true. It does work.
OK - so we know this means a lot - now how do you make a list of your Affirmations? These are to support you so unlike your wish list or vision board, this is more for support. Think back to words of encouragement, compliments, praise that you have received throughout you life that meant something to you. Were they about your brains, your beauty, your common sense, your analytical mind? This is what you want to hit on - it's what goes to your core and means a lot to you.
The next thing to remember about Affirmations, they all must be in the present tense: I am a patience person, I am a successful person....yada, yada, yada....no future tense here - remember ol' Einstein?...he said everything happens at once, however we only see it one after the other (huh?) Yeah, I know but remember Einstein and time were warped....the same way big planets/stars/objects warp space, time is also warped.
The point here is that the present tense is all we can really experience, and so we must write our affirmations in the present tense.
Here are some ideas to get you started. Be creative with these. I will sometimes write one that is particularly meaningful to me, over and over and then let my mind go and write about that one affirmation. This leads to other affirmations that you might want to include in your list.
After you have your list of them - use them.
Repeat them daily (if you are alone or outside of earshot). If not, write them for about 15 minutes a day. When you have the Mean Reds, start breathing (as you do in your meditation - when you practice your meditation regularly, this sort of full breathing becomes more natural), and think about your affirmations that you have been writing daily so that you can remember them when you need them.
I promise this works. At first it feels like it might not, but keep with it. This is very important work you are doing.
