Meditation is more than it sounds.
It performs a lot of functions. The most important is that it provides a means by which your mind can physically stop and restore itself. This is like providing down-time for your mind. It's really hard to get into the habit of this in our rush world and particularly if you're an A-type personality or perform multi-tasks on a regular basis (IOW a mother!!!!)
The next reason is that through the process of meditation you are able to open your mind to creative prosperity. This sounds like a dream and I can not tell you why it works, but I can tell you that it works. I think there's something about relaxing, emptying, and calming the mind that makes it more conducive to hearing and open to receiving ideas.
There's something else that happens here too. There's a voice running around inside you and it's a very good guide. You have to learn to listen to it, and the only way to get in touch with that voice is to calm down and empty your mind, and your thoughts. For me that voice is the Holy Spirit talking with me and the only way I can hear it is through meditation.
This takes a little practice at first. The first thing to do is get into a quiet place - a place where you will not be interrupted. My favorite time is the beginning of the day, but you might make yours late at night. You can use some music, or verses, prayers, mantras to get you into a relaxed state.
There are several different types of meditation which I've listed here.
After you get into the habit of this, it's much easier, and you will begin to rely on the information you gather through this method.
Not only is this important to let your spirit & mind rest, but meditation allows your spirit to recharge. It is vital to keep this a part of your daily regimen so as not to allow the demons too much time in your mind without chases them out with some meditation.
This technique may seem relatively simple and easy, however it is very important for your balance to do this daily.
Enjoy!
