What do the "mean reds", vision boards, mood shifters, meditation all have to do with Time & Space.
For an artist I have an amazing scientific mind....I just love physics (particularly the modern physics - quantum, relativity and all that stuff), and all the things connected with it, 13 dimensions, string theories, parallel universes, time & space warps, wave/particle duality - they are all fascinating....it's like ol' Newton had a nightmare and then wrote up a whole new set of Laws of Physics or more like Newton was tossed on his head and everything is upside down.
All of a sudden in this "new" world, time isn't really time, space isn't really space, there's this "stuff" that can't really be seen, because once it is it changes into a reality that wasn't there before (huh?)...there are dimensions which bleed into other dimensions, and parallel universes that can possibly even cross with each other. It's like this is such a weird world, such a magnificently conceived world, such a beautifully intricate and magically connected world that it can only be created by one being....God. Who in the world else could come up with all this? Although that can get a little simplified for scientist who love to delve into the deeper cause/effect/meaning of things. This is all fine and dandy if you want to do that.
But even though I love this stuff, I can only take so much and then my head explodes, and for those of us in that boat (hopefully before your head explodes), you don't have to think that deeply. For me, I know that at the base of all this is God. The more I search, the more I look, the more I know, God is still at the base of it. The marvelous thing about science is that I will not know everything - I can not. It's not that I don't have the brain capacity, inquisitiveness or desire, it's just that it's too spectacular for me to hope to comprehend all of it. But that doesn't mean I will stop searching. It's a little like the dichotomy of the Sermon on the Mount and the Beatitudes - on the one hand you can't get into the kingdom of God without being perfect, on the other hand you're forgiven if you're not perfect!
Some of this is still theory, however mathematicians and scientists can theorize enough about these new concepts to allow them to see how certain laws begin to work even more intricately and beautifully than they had thought before. Actually what they see is unmeasurable and yet their formulations go sort of wacko without this "unseen" stuff.
By beautifully - I mean that the way these laws fit together is almost magical and at the same time like watching an intricate machine fit tightly into it's proper place.
Einstein first theorized about space and time. He said basically that size of certain celestial objects can warp space....and time....
OK now we return to the artist part of me....a picture is worth a thousand words....
See the dip in the grid?....this is where space has been warped by the weight of Earth.
Light can show us this warp. When scientists are calculating light from far away galaxies from the Hubble Space Telescope, they have to figure in the galaxies that the distant (or behind galaxy) has to travel through, and that light is "warped" by the light passing by or through a closer galaxy. Weird, huh? Gets better....
Time warps too. We already know that if you are traveling, that time passes slower than if you are standing still. If I were on a spaceship to Jupiter and back and I had a twin, then by the time I got back from Jupiter, I would be younger than my twin and so would the clock on my spaceship. Time on the spaceship would have traveled at a different speed than time on Earth.
OooooooooOOOOOOO!!! Spooooooky!
But this is just the beginning. Einstein's world was all about "big stuff". The Theory of Relativity covers how planets, galaxies and universes relate to each other. What about atoms, quarks, particles? That's where Quantum Physics comes in and here's the rub. When you start applying Quantum Physics to things that are larger, the universe goes wacko. When you start applying the laws of the Theory of Relativity to things that are smaller, the universe goes wacko.
So does that mean we live in a wacko world? This is why the unification Theory is trying to do - reconcile these two major physical theories so that we can apply Quantum Physics to large things, and Theory of Relativity to small things!
As physicists get closer and closer and deeper and deeper into the discovery of these two sciences (relativity & quantum), they are beginning to discover some funny stuff....part of it is that there is "stuff" out there that when it is measured, changes. That means that once it was left alone it was one kind of stuff, but once it is interacted with (observed, measured, interacted with), then it changes.
So what happens if we put our own spin on this "stuff"? What happens when we start telling this stuff how we want it to form? All of a sudden we are left with thoughts that, were we meant to interact with this "stuff" - well we do every day whether we realize it or not. But even deeper, were we created to interact with this stuff?
OK - while you're thinking on that one.....let's go the other direction to relativity. Einstein said: Einstein said time is an illusion - if things don’t appear this way it is because everything is happening one thing after one another. But in Einstein’s time, everything is happening simultaneously.....there is no time - everything you want in the future - already exists.
OK - stop and let your brain rest on this. This is a completely different perception, based on the recent theories of time and space, but it is something that most physicists theorize as being true. It has not been proved. (But then our faith in Christ, God & Holy Spirit is hard to prove too, and yet we all know they're there).
But really, isn't this what God tells us? He has created a beautiful world for us to live - a beautiful blue marble - and all we have to do is believe. From both ends, aren't we learning the same thing? Quantum physics is asking us if we, as human beings, weren't created to interact with some "stuff" to create reality, and Theory of Relativity is telling us that events in our life have already happened, so that if you believe your dreams on the future, they already exist?
All of a sudden the mean reds, look so minor. Meditation, thankfulness and belief looks so major. The bottom line....this is what finally put me over the top. This is what did it for me. That's why I have such a fond place in my mind, heart and soul for physics - quantum & relativity!
OK before your brain explodes (mine is just about to!) I'll let you think about this for a while.
(PS....I added a helper...time/space warps make sense to me, but this is a site that really explains it far easier and simpler than I do/can/will/am/be/think.....etc.,)
