I've written before about meditation, but it's one of those unsung heroes in a world that demands so much of our attention and causes us so much stress. It is that part of us that can take us away from the madness without drugs or other illegal or fattening things and still maintain our grip on reality.
This makes it truly a marvelous and magical technique that often seems so simple that it belies and masks its importance.
Oh yeah, I meditate....
Oh I know how to do that....
That's easy....
Oh that's simple as pie
to do, move on - give me the complicated stuff.
That's just it, this whole technique of asking, believing, receiving is not complicated - that's what makes it so hard.
And meditation is right up at the top of that list.
It's also easy to forget...things are going swell, you don't need any more meditation, and poof, you get a whamo and you need the strength and grounding that continual meditation provides.
It's hard to analyze and take this very abstract practice and put it into a concrete-sequential format. At the same time, it is a vital part of your whole process.
God knew we needed meditation and that's a lot of what prayer, devotions, and even that quiet time in a church service offers us.
After a period of regular meditation, the brain develops not only chemically but spiritually to the point that permits us to overcome the "mean reds" with an attitude that is positive, grounded and makes us proud of being the person that we've always wanted to be. In other words, when you have reached your goals, you will look back on the way your conducted yourself during these tough times, and be immensely proud of yourself...you will not have been a complainer or burden; you will not have been bitter or jealous of others; you will not have been difficult or uneasy to be around; you will have made it look magical to others and only you and God will know what all you have really accomplished.
Meditation can involve all the various aspects of this process...asking , receiving, and believing, but it can allow you to concentrate on these different parts so directly and succinctly that you can begin to develop certain keys, visions, phrases, sounds, thoughts, feelings that will immediately bring you out of any funk that you are in.
For example, on those days - and they are bound to happen - you have the whole world crashing in on you, you know you need to start thinking "rightly", but can't seem to get the world's crises out of your head, this key (which can be a vision, a mental charm, phrase, sounds, thought, feeling, etc.) will immediately bring you out of your wrong-minded thinking and get you back to that right way of thinking, thereby resulting in your right way of feeling and before you know it you are recovering from the crises of the day/week/month or whatever.
It is important to remember that God is perfect and He can be in you and with you. God can be a part of all of your life...you can be "one" with God...and that "one-ness" is that grounding that you achieve in your meditation. It is the closest we can be to God while on this Earth and why it is such a calming, peaceful, satisfying and balancing feeling.
Most meditation techniques can last about 30 minutes to one hour, and should be practiced at least once a day. This should be at a time when you can be alone and not bothered by any other distractions - usually that's late at night or early in the morning - whatever works for you.
I will guarantee you it will change your life.
