Although we are a young state, comparatively, we just got a dome on our capital building which makes a very nice addition to the skyline. On the inside, this is the top of the dome.

And I didn't know we had tigers at the capital, however here's the proof
Guess its there to scare away n'er-do-wells...not sure it worked back then...or for that matter now, but beautiful none the less.

Egrets are common enough in our state, but they are still fun to watch and photograph.
Especially when they make a symmetrical show like this!

My diving buddy has a new camera and we had some fun last night....
It started right outside the front door....the Bradford Pears are in bloom and with the street light back lighting them it was a gorgeous shot. This was about the best of the subject matter, so we hoped in the car and took off.
First stop was
A local church. I love this cause you can see straight into the sanctuary and the alter. And the stain glass windows are always beautifully lit.
An ol favorite in our town. During the 60's & 70's the kids would hang out here, and it's still popular with a great burger!

And still another - it's fun to see what all a great fish-eye lens can do.
This is a landmark high-rise in the neighborhood with a revolving restaurant on top - too much fun. The Bradfords in bloom and the lit building make for a great show!

I've lived here for almost 35 years. I'm not one to move around.
One of the many things I love living in my old home is that it has 35 years of Virginia Creeper on the side of my home. During the summer I let the vine grow over the side of my home, off the edge of my porch roof (it makes a glorious natural awning!) and the windows on the west & south sides of my home.
I have this beautiful dappled green light during the summer which keeps my home a little cooler (maybe it just feels cooler) and yet I have ample light in my home.
But in the autumn, the Virginia Creeper turns this color that is beyond my palette. I hardly have enough cadmium red on my palette to portray the vibrant color - and the color that jumps off this page is not fake!
But this is a great year
The leaves are normally this beautiful, but almost always followed by days of relentless winds which wisp away the color almost immediately. This year has been wonderful pleasant Indian Summer days that leave the leaves to be admired day after day.
But these leaves are about to fall off - probably in one day with a gust of wind and they will be gone for another year. Just a few days of beauty all gone......but.....
...not to worry....next will be the Bradford pears. They've been growing for 35 years too.
