I had just a little left over of the lining I used for my Chanel jacket, and for a while it's been beating a place in my stash to be made up.
And then the perfect pattern shows up (of course Burda)
#111 from September, 2010
And I had read a little about the "dangling" cuff ties, so decided to tie them at the other end on the inside, and this is just totally impractical for me.
And while this came out great - that collar/closure will be beautiful under my Chanel jacket, there were some alterations that I thought this top needed.
That droop on the right didn't work for me, and the hooks or buttons, just wouldn't hold the top where I wanted it. So I added a bias cord from the side here and from the waist of the other side, and just wrapped it around. It works beautifully. Unfortunately it's over at the Bernina shop being displayed for the upcoming class.
This is another case of the basics being really good, but there were some minor details that I changed for me to make this work more for what I want. Something we sewists can do regularly.
I made a top like this and did not like the cross over fit. Tried using velcro, snaps, and pins, none of which I liked the look. So, now I need a better explanation (tutorial) for the bias cord, please!

Did you add the bias cording to the outside to make a belt?

OK, I posted a comment right after you put this up, and now it is gone and I don't know where it went. I am curious about the bias cord. Where/how did you connect it. I love these type of shirts, don't like the gaposis.

Thank you so much. I'm always reminded of something I have known from the past or learn something new from you. A big shout to Burda patterns. In the past I used mostly Vogue but the last few years--Burda has been the choice to meet my needs.
