The first of the year for me always brings on a new time to look at my last year and see what I did right and what I did wrong, what I want to do more of and less of (the stuff that was wrong will hopefully be done less!)
And one of the major conclusions I've come to is that I'm letting go of my fashion magazine subscriptions one by one this year. The magazines are just not relevant for me any more and taking up space and I'm feeling guilty cause I don't even seem to want to open them up. I still have wrappers on some of the fall issues.
So I've been out there looking for other sources much better than the fashion magazines and one I've found has been the Wall Street Journal of all things. So I've subscribed to their RSS feed and already lots of fun interesting things....like this little ditty about denim.
I thought the history was fun and really interesting, and stuff about Levi Strauss we all knew, but it was equally fun if not more so to see what fun neat things Stella McCartney, Derek Lam, Valentino (my fav) are doing with denim - kinda makes you think!!!
I gave up on fashion magazines also. I do have a subscription to Lucky just to know what's on trend. But, once the cover models became celebrities and were consistently younger than me, I started losing interest :) Now, I troll websites of clothing companies I like such as Boden, Anthropologie, and J. Crew

I love the WSJ and DD turned me on to this addiction. While there business news is bar none, there are columns on wine, fashion, etc. They also look at business, all business, in such an informative way from how Joanns was just acquired and privatized to how the business of fashion is coping in the current economy. Lots and lots of info besides stock prices. I have enjoyed the NYTimes, Washington Post (I love), Boston Globe, and the WSJ surpasses them all.

i really didn't have the time to go over fashion magazines at home. i skim the web for clothing options and fashion shows just to keep me in-the-know on what's in trend in the fashion industry.

I agree with Bunny, the Washington Post is surprisingly good. I love Robin Givhan's writing. Will have to check out WSJ.
