OK - to start with I wasn't nuts about this whole concept. This is one of those "I love the fabric and I love the pattern, but together something went wrong!" stories.
This just goes to show it happens to all of us. This is Burda May, 2009 #110 (and yes it's from the French site....Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr on the English Burda site)
So - looks easy and simple...that's what I thought
So I had this stripe and thought I could play with the angle a little and have some fun.
And I had this really neat wool and rayon fabric (wool & rayon?...sounded really neat and has a GREAT hand).
So I liked this well enough and it really does look good and it really makes me look thin, and the proportions work. Notice the angle of the stripe on the top of the bodice.
Maybe cause I wasn't all that excited about it, I had to remove both sleeves (put them in backwards), put the collar in wrong, and it didn't "curve" the way I like - still doesn't but looks better than it did.
I did make a small little tweak in back:
There is a pleat in the back, which is great, but I like a little containment, and just nailed down that pleat at waist and it gave me just the shape and look I wanted.
So this is a nice looking top and I like it, but it just doesn't sing for me...actually I did this thinking I would do the sand-washed silk next (from the previous post), and maybe do something really "out of the box" for the stay in back - like maybe even a monogram - unusual location, but fun.
Hmmm - maybe the jury's still out on this one.
