A True Confession

Well, sorta - I've been thinking about Ann's (of Ann's Fashion Studio fame) move, and in about 2 weeks she's going to have the neatest studio of all of us.  She won't have that fav spot though that we all have....like this.....

 

This is a delicate little piece of china I received from Japan.  It's got a darling pattern in it and is beautiful by itself....

See - this is just beautiful like it is.

But not me.  I need to have a place to put the very technical equipment that is essential to making fine clothing.  You just never know when you're going to need important stuff that's in my misc. dish.

 

See all this important stuff?  Even though I have a perfectly good metal invisible zipper foot, you just never know when I might need this dinky, half-working plastic zipper foot.  And what about that all-purpose tube thingie...those are a necessity in my biz.  And who would be caught dead without a Bahamian coin of the realm!  Not me.  And let's not forget the ever- handy important screw - just never know when that might hold something important together.

So for all of you out there who have these little "places" where you hold your miscellaneous items - Here's to us.

Muslin Intervention

We all make up a lot of these, and yes they provide a great function and they've saved my bacon more than once.

But com'on - they are still soooooooooooo boring.

So what's a poor sewists to do?

Paint 'em Danno

This is the tunic from the My Label by Bernina and the recommendation was to sew up the tunic and the pull-on pants.

But just so I didn't die of monotony, it was fun to paint this and practice using my fabric pens.

These were done with these Tsukineko Fabrico markers.  They have a dual tip - one side is fine and the other is chiseled, and they draw really really well - with a paper under (you don't want to mess up your nice silk with a mark here and there.

But the real fun starts with the paints and the "fantastix" that come with them

These come with their own stand and are really neat to use.

But I digress...back to the muslin color intervention....

This was actually from a scene on one of my u/w photo trips...I didn't have to do a dang thing to the picture - here was this beautiful blue umbrella just on the edge of the water with a lone lounge just waiting to be painted....who am I to cross providence?!!!

Nonsense

Holy Mackerel - I love that jacket....and I hear the pants are wonderful!

 

Here in the South - after a long not day and an evening shower I just want to put on something very Maggie the Cat-ish or Sweet Bird of Paradise and pretend that Marlon Brando or Paul Newman is around!!!  This would fit that ticket!

 

Another wonderfully cool pattern in this month's July issue...it has a fabulous tie thing around a nice simple pair of pants.  This one is really needed in my wardrobe.
