In the zone

It is said that artist, when they are creating, are "in the zone".  They loose track of everything around them.  They loose track of time, their surroundings and are focused only on what they are doing at the time - usually their art.

Art is a process of solving one problem after another but they look upon it as not a problem but a challenge just begging to be solved.

One of my favorite times of all the many fun things I do, is when I get to sew for me all day.  No cutting.  No measuring.  No drawing up pattern.  No deciding how to make up this or that piece of fabric.  No matching buttons.   Just sewing.

Today was one of those days.

Two tops, one pair of pants and starting on a jacket this morning!  Oooooo - Saturday and a whole jacket to make - and buttons picked out!

I was in the zone.  And the day went way to fast.  I started about 9 am, and looked up at the clock at what seemed an hour later and it was 3:30 pm - where did the day go?  I've been cheated!  I should get another 5 hours!!!  No, it's just the zone!

At least there's Saturday and another jacket to do up!

Twitter & Facebook

I am on Facebook and Twitter....and as I tell my friends my age: Twitter is not illegal, immoral or fattening - so no comments!!!

But there is an abundance of information available on these networks that I feel like a little kid in a candy store.  Some you will like and some will be boring....I'm sort of an eclectic person with a wide variety of curiosities!  (I think a person's Twitter following list is probably pretty close to one's bookmarks!)

Here are some of the latest finds that are really worth the time spent in following these things:

• So interested in Project Runway - who isn't in our field....well here's where you can download the application to send in (will they pay my room and board?...hmmm), courtesy of Vogue Fabrics.
• Holy Cow!  This is absolutely the coolest thing I've ever seen....I'm so taken with it, I have to think about it before I buy - but I'm getting one!
• For local artist....need some funds?...here's a source - this is from Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition.
• Astronautics published that NASA is asking for the public's input on what have been NASA greatest hits....go vote here.
• I love just about everything Corporette posts (it's about how to keep your wardrobe in a working/office atmosphere).  This one was about hose - a very controversial subject, but all of their subjects are worth reading.
• A New Mode is one of the reasons the old guard fashion mags are not as powerful as they used to be (that's another post)....great place to get stylish info.
• Pioneer Woman is a hoot. She's from my home town so I've known her family for years.  She has a great way of writing, her recipes are deeeeelicious and her humor is easy and her photography is gorgeous....keeping up with her on Twitter is really fun.

One last thing,  I use Firefox (it's just the only way), and there's a wonderful add-on so while you're working on your browser (like writing your latest blog), you can keep up with what all is going on....Friendbar, which I love.
